Growing up I was always told by people and fashion magazines that mixing patterns is not good. Nowadays, however, mixed patterns (and textures) can be seen everywhere - it became a trend! So I started to think - what about interior design? Are mixed patterns okay there too? And what abour MARBLE? I mean, obviously marble is classic, majestic, and stylish by itself - its patterns are nature's imperfect perfection. Can you combine different marbles, though, in your home?
I, then, searched for pictures. I found some - not too much - that I thought looked extravagant, but still aesthetic (above). What do you think? Would you use these combinations?
What I came to realize was that it doesn't matter what kind of marble you mix - well, it does, but it's not that strict.
A. You can use contrasting marbles - blacks/whites and colours, lights and darks. It's possible that in this case, only one of the marbles will be in focus.
B. You can also use monochromes - three or more shades, from white, through greys, to black - which will complement each other perfectly.
I can imagine using both, but I really like the dramatic effect of the first option. I'd love to try and use a low-key white marble with a highly patterned green or brown!

This month has been really about interior design for me. As you might know, I started to attend an Interior Design school not long ago, which, after finishing it, will result in a Diploma in Interior Design. I always loved interior design, but never thought of it as a career option, because at school (and basically everywhere) we were told that we need "real" jobs to make it in life and avoid starving. This is obviously a stupid approach, and they had a very specific idea of what a real job was. But it's also true that in my country there is no such thing as interior design university degree, you can only attend courses in different schools - but no universities. This thells all! But this year, while I am in the United Kingdom, decided to go against this, and applied for this school. The school has 12 modules, covering different important topics in interior design (from basics and theory, to practice and planning, and even the business aspects and client relations), and I am currently doing the 5th module. It seems to be the hardest one though (we have to do an electric plan for a house). So most of my time I'm studying, doing assignments, or thinking about/researching HOW ON EARTH I could do this specific assignment :D I am also more dedicated to my Instagram account and this blog, so I'm constantly researching topics, taking photos and visiting home decor stores. When I'm eating or just chilling, then I'm also watching youtube videos about interior design. Different people in our families are currently building or renovating a house, including my parents, and I love talking to them about the process. My parents had a few issues renovating theirs (mostly in planning, resulting in bad ideas) so they asked me to help them :) This is a new project I'm working on, kind of my first real project/client you might say, and I'm really excited :) So it's also added to my list. Although it isn't ideal, as they live in a completely different country, and I can visit them (and the project itself) like twice a year. But I'll try my best. I'll keep you posted! This is basically July for me:)
